An Advanced Massage Technique that clients will love and produces results!

This Transverse Soft Tissue Release course comprises of an online portion, as well as a one-day practical workshop taught by NLSSM Director, Susan Findlay.

The purpose of Transverse Soft Tissue Release (TSTR) is to improve the tissue environment without causing undue stress. I have heard multiple times how painful this technique can be from clients and therapists alike. Whilst it is a strong technique, it should not include pain. It should instead feel like the tissue is being given a good stretch without being beaten up!

    SMA Study Evening with

    Rachel Fairweather

    Thursday 18th April
    **18:00 Start Time**

Myofascial Release for Fibromyalgia and Long Covid

Content: the presentation will cover Myofascial Release for Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue syndrome

Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome can both be frustrating conditions for the bodyworker. Endless symptoms such as constant pain, fatigue, “fibro-fog”, digestive problems, sensitivity to light and noise (to name but a few) can be overwhelming for both practitioner and client. Traditional bodywork techniques and some aspects of fascial practice can also often leave the client in more pain after treatment.

This dynamic online presentation outlines a clear theoretical model for safely treating fibromyalgia with your existing toolbox of manual therapy or movement techniques. You will learn:

    • A theoretical understanding of etiology of these conditions
    • An understanding of treatment planning and managing client expectations
    • An understanding of relevant technical terms including central sensitisation, nervous system “wind up” and the biopsychosocial model
    • How to adapt your existing hands on or movement techniques for working with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue
    • Self care techniques and approaches

A fun day for a complex subject. You will never look at another person in the same way again. It is all about differences, what we see and what does it mean, how does it influence the way we work. Start your path on a more effective approach for change.

In this workshop we discuss the theories and physiology behind postural deterioration.  From  this understanding we can relate the changes in movement purity to the muscle chains that provide stability whilst producing force.  Using our key movement pattern assessments we can identify and understand how the body compensates for the weakness that inevitably leads to dysfunction and postural changes.  These key assessments can then form the foundation of a corrective strategy and effective postural exercise prescription.

This workshop is a must for all industry professionals that are interested in treating postural deterioration.  Providing a structured, simplistic and effective approach to postural correction.

A five day immersive human anatomy experience
    For Manual and Movement Therapists
    With Julian Baker
    Transform your practice!

The opportunity to actually participate in the process of human dissection is incredibly rare. Even medical students often do little or nothing in the way of actual dissection, instead learning on pre-dissected specimens.

This highly acclaimed five day class takes you through all the systems of the human body and gives you the opportunity to see what it really is that you are touching in your treatment spaces.

Led by Julian Baker one of the only practicing therapist dissectors in the world, this class focuses on the anatomy and parts of the human form that you will never see in anatomy books or even other dissections.

Julian has been running dissection classes for over fifteen years and will bring you gently and sensitively into the process, guiding you through the layers of the body. As part of the dissection process, you will be engaging in discussions and demonstrations around the function of the human form, principles of touch and movement and seeing, feeling and experiencing how each part of the body connects and relates.

Working in small teams, there is no part of the human body that you will not explore, leaving you with a life-changing view of the incredible structure that is our body.

All the theory you have ever undertaken comes to fruition in this class, leaving you with X-ray vision when you return to your treatment rooms.

ascinated by fascia? Marvelling at myofascial release? Then take your fascial work even further with this dynamic and creative master class led by Jing Director, Rachel Fairweather.

    Fascial Anatomy and Assessment techniques

New fascial research and theory suggests that our traditional notions of anatomy are outdated. This workshop takes a fun and interactive approach to learning the new “fascial anatomy” of biotensegrity, fascial trains, chains and slings and shows how our fascial work can go right down to the level of the cell itself.

We will also look at a variety of assessment techniques to help the practitioner assess where major fascial restrictions may be found. These are drawn from major branches of fascial work including general and local listening, above the body scanning (manual thermal evaluation) plus fascial body reading

You also get access 1 hour online virtual classroom “An Introduction to Positional Release” as soon as you sign up!

    Course Details:

    • Duration: 1 day hands on
    • Cost: £185 (Including VAT)
    • Online included: 1 hr recorded virtual classroom

    Course Highlights:

    • Learn great new effective techniques for easing muscular contraction, spasm and pain in a simple, non-invasive way.
    • Fascial positional release is a creative fusion of the techniques of positional release, orthobionomy and strain-counterstrain - these methods all involve the positioning of an area, or the whole body, in such a way as to produce a combination of neurological and circulatory changes which produce pain relief and relaxation of soft tissues.
    • Fascial positional release combines the theory of these methods with the sensitivity of a fascial “listening touch” and a knowledge of fascial and acupuncture meridians.

Created, taught and tried and tested clinically by Jing director, Rachel Fairweather, this workshop is not to be missed!
